Highlights of Vietnam Tour

Visits: Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Hue & Ho Chi Minh City

The ideal trip for the first-time visitor to Vietnam discovering the main highlights in few days : the capital Hanoi, the natural heritage site of Halong Bay, the charming town and beautiful beach of Hoi An, the ancient Citadel of Hue and the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 1 - Departure flight from UK to Hanoi

Day 2 - Arrive Hanoi

Arrival and welcome at Hanoi Airport. Transfer to check in at your hotel. Later climb into a traditional cyclo for a 60-minute tour of the traditional streets of the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake vicinity. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 - Hanoi – Halong Bay (B)

In morning we will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed every Monday and Friday), a traditional stilt house, the revered One-Pillar Pagoda and the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature also known the First University in Vietnam and the Ethnology Museum (where you can learn about the 54 ethnic groups within Vietnam).

Please note: Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum closes from 08 September to 08 November for annual maintenance.

After your city tour you will leave for Halong Bay and pass through the large rice fields of the Red River Delta. Arrive in Halong in the late afternoon. Check in at hotel. Overnight at the hotel

Day 4 - Halong Bay – Hanoi – Hoi An (B,L)

Breakfast at hotel, after that transfer to the pier and embark a traditional wooden junk for a five hour cruise to discover Halong Bay. A fresh seafood lunch is served on-board. After the cruise return to Hanoi Airport for flight to Danang. You will be met at Danang Airport and transferred to your hotel in Hoi An. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 - Hoi An (B)

In the morning take a walking tour in Hoi An town, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site because of its unusually well-preserved ancient streets and homes. Set out to explore the quaint cobblestone streets of the town with more than two-century-old Chinese houses. Sites include the Japanese Bridge, the Chinese Temple, and Phung Hung Chinese-style trading house. Then take a short biking tour to the beautiful and peaceful villages in the countryside surrounding Hoi An. Free time in the afternoon for shopping and exploring Hoi An at your own pace. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6 - Hoi An – Hue (B)

Morning departure to Hue via the scenic Hai Van Pass to enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramas in Vietnam as you look out over the central coastline. You will also pass through the quiet, white sandy beach of Lang Co along the way. Arrive in Hue at the end of the morning. Check in the hotel. After that, take a tour of the citadel city and enjoy the refined and distinct atmosphere of the town and visit the Imperial Citadel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7 - Hue (B)

A morning bicycle ride through winding paths along Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda. On the way, visit a typical garden house, which was built according to precise rules of geomancy. After exploring the pagoda, board a boat trip to visit the Minh Mang Mausoleum. In the afternoon discover Tu Duc Mausoleum and Tu Hieu Pagoda. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8 - Hue – Ho Chi Minh City (B)

Transfer to Hue Airport for the morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the city. Pay visits to some historic landmarks including the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the War Remnants Museum and Dong Khoi Street. Check in at the hotel. Then visit the ethnic Chinese district of Cho Lon, especially Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Pagoda. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9- Tay Ninh – Cu Chi (B,L)

In the morning, depart to Tay Ninh and visit the unique Caodaist Cathedral. After the lunch in a local restaurant, continue on to Cu Chi, where you will visit the amazing tunnel network built by Vietnamese fighters during the Vietnam War with America. Return to Ho Chi Minh City at the end of the day. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10 - Depart Ho Chi Minh City (B)

Free time until you are transferred to the airport for your onward/return flight.
